Texas Rising Star

Research shows that children who attend higher-quality child care programs are more prepared for school than those who don’t. That’s why the state of Texas is working hard to enhance the quality of child care programs.

The focus of these efforts is the Texas Rising Star program, which certifies and rates child care providers that participate in the Texas Workforce Commission’s subsidized child care program.
Texas Rising Star offers three levels of quality certification to encourage you to continually improve your programs. These certification levels can lead to higher reimbursement rates for you.

I’m interested in receiving business supports, what is the time commitment?

Our child care business coaching program typically needs 5-8 one-hour business coaching sessions with the business owner/director to get the most out of the experience. Through Business Coaching we conduct a thorough review of your business finances and operations and take you on a journey to enhance and improve your overall business practices.

We also offer a light-touch option through Advising that may be a better fit for those with a very busy schedule, this approach is intended to get a snapshot of your current business needs through a one-hour business assessment and your advisor will then customize your business supports to meet your most pressing needs through a series of touch points that align with your schedule.

I am a business owner but would like my director to go through the program, is that possible?

Yes. Business Coaching and Advising greatly benefits both the owners and those operating the day-to-day aspects of a child care program.

How much does it cost to get a business coach or advisor?

Currently, memberships are FREE and only available to providers who are participating in an approved business coaching program through Texas Workforce Commission and/or a local workforce board area in North Central Texas and Tarrant County or have been granted access by the Institute to Advance Child Care in Tarrant County.
